Hi Mr. West,

What do you consider to be the most effective targets of a headbutt that don’t risk stunning or injuring oneself?

Best,
Reese

Reese sorry for getting back so late, but I have been bad about checking my email lately, so thanks. To answer your question, first when you head butt make sure you keep your eyes on your target and use your crown bone as it is the thickest bone in the head. It would be like hitting a soccer ball with your head butt, the same overall technique. The best targets for me personally are the cheek bones and temple The sinus cavity is thin and weak compared to other facial features. I have had a broken cheekbone before, I know. I have also delivered a few devastating head butts to the same area and the temple. Normally these will end the fight before it really gets started. The teeth are a secondary target and the lower jaw. The only draw-back is the teeth can cut you and are really dirty sometimes causing infections. Either way keep your eyes open and almost fixated on the target and make sure you stay lower than your opponent and brace or bull (tighten up) the back of your neck and tuck your own chin before you strike.
