Some AEF History
More than 20 years ago I developed American Extension Fighting. Please click here to see one of the fighters I have trained.
I hope you enjoyed the video clip where Steven Graham, an MMA fighter who I trained, beat Dmitri Stepanov. I have been referred as the “Legendary Jim Smokey West” then and to this very day.
In 1992 I created American Extension Fighting. As a Grand Master in American Open Style Karate I felt it was essential to give back to my parent martial arts system. For many years, I and most martial arts trained people take from the systems. The mandate of the American Karate System is to give back once you attain a certain level. Through personal close quarters combat, both on the battlefield, in bar rooms and in the street as well as the ring, I developed AEF which I consider a gap filler for otherwise uncovered areas for any martial arts system. This can also take an individual who has otherwise never trained and provide self-defense that would thwart rape, beatings and offer simple protective strategies.
With more than 40 years of formal fight training and having been in too many street fights, I have trained UFC fighters, government contract workers, Navy Seals, Army Special Forces and Rangers as well as professional kickboxers and boxers as seen on HBO and pay preview.
